About The Directors

                       Victoria Sharp – Managing Director

I started work at the tender age of 13 working in my parents’ office at the weekends – typing in hundreds of names and addresses into a database,  mind numbing, but I taught myself to touch type, so when I left school at 16 I could type 70 words a minute.   Not being very academic (or so I thought) I didn’t leave school with many great GCSE’s, I had no intentions of going to college, I wanted to get into the working world, so from 16 to 20 I worked in a variety of industries but always on the administration side, working my way up from reception to PA to the Directors.  Industries like: Mortgage / IFA / Board Game Inventors / Bulk Haulage / Property Management and Computer Peripherals.  

At 21 I started my first business, working part-time in an estate agent and part-time in my mobile make up beautician business – Soignee. I loved the industry – but not so much the application. What I could say from that very early age is that I loved setting up the business and everything that went with it – my administration skills coming to the forefront in being organised.

In 2000 I won East Anglian Daily Times – Start Up Business of the Year for my secretarial and telephone answering company Kudos Services Ltd.   Whilst running this, I also built up a small Property Management Company – Belvedere Property Consultants Ltd (something I always swore I would return to!).   I sold both businesses to partners that had joined me.

In October 2003 I joined the family Accountancy practice Avanti and have never looked back.  I took my Association Of Accounting Technicians (AAT) accounts and tax qualification and we grew the company from 3 directors to 11 staff, franchised the business and merged in 2020 with another practice, making the business now 19 members of staff.  Although my parents have now been able to retire – I am still very much involved and able to utilise the services that MJB Avanti Tax Accountants can offer.

So now I am the MD of Whitley Morgan, bringing all that business experience to our clients.

I am also an Army Cadet Instructor, Foster Mum and workaholic. I also enjoy keeping fit with activities such as boxing, cycling and mucky race running. I like to keep busy!   

                                          Jan Fenn – Director

After starting my career as a secretary in the City of London, I rose to become the PA to the Managing Partner of one of London’s largest accountancy firms. After marriage I realised one of my goals and became a housewife and mother.

Following my husband’s injury on duty and medical retirement from the police force, I put my skills to good use and worked with my husband as administrative director in our financial services company. Upon expanding into an accountancy and tax practice, together with our daughter Victoria, I continued to manage all administrative and secretarial tasks until the company grew sufficiently to employ 11 staff.

Upon the merger of our accountancy companies with a London based Chartered Accountants, and the sale of our interests, I semi-retired and now currently live in sunny Suffolk, assisting my husband and daughter providing services to clients through Whitley Morgan.

                                       Steve Fenn – Director

After starting my working life in Telecommunications, I realised my main ambition in life and became a Police Officer with the Suffolk Constabulary. This dream was cut short after a very successful 10 years as a result of an injury on duty, that resulted in mandatory medical retirement and a spell of paralysis.

After two years of recuperation I studied and qualified as an Independent Financial Adviser, and with my wife Jan, managed several companies in the field of financial services. During this time we realised the symbiotic relationship clients had with their accountant, so we started an accountancy firm to satisfy the growing needs for assistance and plain speaking advice in matters of tax and tax planning. Our daughter Victoria joined the company in 2003 and our companies grew from strength to strength, culminating with the eventual merger with a London based accountancy firm of Chartered Accountants.

I have always enjoyed challenges of the mind and as a consequence successfully designed and programmed the software used in our accountancy firm, as well as providing both standard design and bespoke software to clients. 

On the merger of the accountancy firm and the sale of our interests, I have semi-retired and live in sunny Suffolk. With my wife and daughter Victoria, we are looking forward to the future, helping Victoria provide services to clients though Whitley Morgan and its associated companies.
